FELDENKRAIS

The Feldenkrais Method is a highly respected and rapidly growing method in the emerging field of somatic education. It is unique in that it is based on sound mechanical and neurological principles and yet easily accessible through simple, practical lessons. Based on the work of Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais (1904-1984) and influenced by his expertise in physics, engineering and judo, the method draws together both the science and the art of human movement. It is an educational method with the focus on learning through developing awareness. This approach has a broad range of applications as it may reveal and alter behaviours responsible for chronic tension and pain; it can facilitate recovery of movement restricted by injury or trauma and it can improve skills for professionals in Theatre, Sports, Dance and Music. At the same time, it is a valuable learning tool for life.

 

Gunther Bisges
Gunther Bisges is a Feldenkrais Practitioner with a private practice in London. An Assistant Trainer in Feldenkrais Training in Europe and the US, he has published several articles on the Feldenkrais method in medical journals and created and presented a series of “Awareness through Movement” sequences for German TV and an Info-Introduction on the Feldenkrais Method for N-TV in Germany. He’s currently working on a series of ATMs on CD and a new series of ATMs for senior citizens for German TV. Gunther also works as a guest teacher for the Performing Arts Academics in Munich, Hong-Kong, the Royal Dramaten Stockholm, and as a Movement coach for the Munich Philharmonic.

GOLF PILATES

Improve your game by improving your stance and swing with Pilates exercises.

Golf Pilates increases range of motion in shoulders which creates optimal backswing and follow-through; helps to strengthen back, shoulders, forearms and wrists to give you a smoother and more powerful swing; improves hip and torso flexibilty to achieve more distance and greater power through swing rotation; creates an inner corset with core muscles to allow maximum balance and alignment while rotating; encourages long focused breathing to give you better concentration; decreases fatigue to enable you to play longer and stronger; and makes you a better golfer!

Ski Pilates incorporates exercises and movements to help you hit the slopes in top form!


CIRCUITS

Pilates on Pilates apparatus: Reformer, Cadillac (also known as Trapeze), Chair, Barrel, Spine Corrector. Small groups under teacher guidance.

Have a pair of killer heels you adore but are afraid to wear? The ones we call sit-down shoes? Bring them to this workshop and leave wearing them! Alexander Technique to give you the secret to good posture; Pilates to tone the muscle groups to keep it. THE TWO COMBINED to free your inner Diva!


TECHNIQUE

30-minute, one-to-one session to review ongoing postural issues and individual difficulties in mat classes.

You've heard the hype - how it's BRILLIANT FOR TONING, changes your shape, helps back and posture problems, makes you FEEL TERRIFIC - and is suitable for almost any age, even if you've never exercised before!

Now is the chance to SEE FOR YOURSELF why Pilates is the preferred exercise of celebrities. This workshop will give you an overview of Pilates Principles and a basic classic repertoire so that you can decide for yourself whether Pilates is for you.
